Breast Augmentation
Most women would prefer that they were blessed with real, shapely breasts or able to grow their own breast tissue with the aid of medications and other products. Unfortunately, it is not possible to increase the size of your bust using herbal pills and creams. You can get a more feminine figure with the placement of breast implants. Modern breast augmentation procedures allow surgeons to personalize each patients treatment and achieve more natural looking results than ever before due to the development of innovative materials and techniques.
At the Dallas practice of Dr. Paul Pin, we see many women that are interested in improving their appearance with breast augmentation. Our typical breast augmentation patients are working professionals in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who desire the most real looking result possible. When prospective breast augmentation patients come to our practice, Dr. Pin and each member of our staff strives to educate you about your implant options, available surgical techniques, and what to expect after breast augmentation surgery. We want you to play a role in determining which options are right for you so we can produce an outcome that you are satisfied with.
Reasons to Get Breast Augmentation
Women choose to get breast implants for a variety of reasons, including:
- Breasts are too small
- One breast is bigger than the other
- Breasts do not have an ideal shape
- Avoid use of push-up bras, water bras, and padded bras
- Expand clothing options and fill out bras, bikinis, blouses, and dresses
- Breasts have lost volume due to pregnancy or weight loss
- Breasts have begun to sag due to pregnancy, weight loss, or age
The Procedure
Dr Pin performs breast augmentation under general anesthesia as complete relaxation of the patient’s muscles allows for more precise implant placement. Using the incision selected by the patient and Dr. Pin preoperatively, Dr Pin creates a space or “pocket” for the implant. Usually, this pocket is beneath the pectoralis major muscle, as Dr. Pin feels this position is more likely to minimize scar tissue, create a more natural result, and allow for better mammography in the future.
Once the space is created, Dr. Pin places a sizer, which is a trial implant. Dr. Pin “tries on” different size implants to see which size is most likely to create the result desired by the patient. Once the size or volume of the implant is identified, the actual silicone or saline implant is inserted. Dr. Pin closes the wound with dissolvable stitches and the patient is usually on her way home within an hour or two.
